Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer for the online division develops media based presentations for online delivery. This position works closely with subject matter experts under the supervision of the Curriculum Development Manager to develop dynamic, engaging course content and supplemental training material for students, faculty and other training needs. This position will also serve as the subject matter expert in area of expertise. A limited number of teaching assignments may be assigned depending on current development needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations for improvement on curricula, instructional delivery methods, materials and equipment. • Work with SMEs and Education Management team to update the content of educational programs and ensure that students are being trained in the most current information and with the most current tools. • Confer with members of educational committees and advisory groups to obtain knowledge of skill areas for specific subjects, individual student needs, and occupational areas. • Develop classroom-based training courses using needs assessments and skill level analyses. • Organize the production and design of curriculum materials. • Track and project manage course development and implementation. • Assist with management and strategic planning of online programs. • Develop interactive media presentations that enhance the online educational experience. • Assist in developing multimedia presentations using tools such as Flash, Director, video editing software, audio software, 3D animation software, Dreamweaver and PowerPoint. • Create training modules for student orientations, faculty orientations and other training initiatives. • Join and participate in relevant organizations that can assist in the curriculum development process. • Work closely with IT technology specialists during the course development process. • Can teach a limited number of courses as assigned by the Director of Education. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required: • Appropriate technical experience and expertise. • Strong knowledge of web based technologies and multimedia design. • Knowledge of the curriculum design process. • High level of knowledge of desktop publishing software and multimedia production software. • High level of knowledge in learning management systems (Angel, eCollege, etc.). • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office systems, with an emphasis on Word formatting, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations. • Ability to communicate clearly. • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision. • Ability to use the internet to do research. • Strong organizational skills. • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects at once. • Supervision of curriculum developers and subject matter experts as needed. • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items up to 25 pounds. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities. • Some travel may be required. • Position is based in Denver, CO Preferred: • Two years of project management experience. • Knowledge of management and strategic planning principles. • Specialized training in instructional design. • Previous experience in curriculum design.
